Chase Gulch Reservoir - Gilpin County
Aliases:
Ownership: None Listed
Description: Not marked on most maps, this small reservoir has signs posting that it is open only to residents of Gilpin County, however a call to the Gilpin County Parks and Recreation Center indicated that the restriction applies to fishing and wildlife viewing is permitted.  Nevertheless, the cautious can obtain a pass at the Central City Police Department.  Only occasionally will you find waterfowl of note on the reservoir itself, but the rocky edge can produce the occasional shorebird and the grassy edges are good for sparrows.  Best birds seen here include a pair of McCown's Longspurs in the longspur invasion spring of 2013.

Habitat: Pond/Lake/Reservoir, Mountain Meadow, Lodgepole Forest
Elevation:
Directions: Chase Gulch is about two miles northwest of Central City along Upper Apex Road, which connects Central City with the Apex Valley Road.
